Want an Author interview please contact me at https://www.facebook.com/RhondaPattonauthor
Hi Rhonda. Hi everyone. I hope you are all well. Rhonda, thank you so much for interviewing me. I hope you and your readers enjoy it.
How long have you been a writer?
I have been writing for over 20 years. However, I have only been published and have started marketing in the last year or two. Also, within the last couple of years, I have started three (main) websites. (So, I write quite a bit now. My books and websites keep me busy.) You can find them at: www.AuthorJodiDesautels.com www.ClarindaCloud.com www.DUOEducation.com
Tell us about yourself?
Hi. My name is Jodi Desautels. I enjoy caring about people, reading, writing, illustrating, creating, learning, and educating. I am a country gal at heart! I try to follow the Golden Rule and to live my life with laughter and love.
What is most important in your life?
God, love, life, family, caring…
How many books do you have out? Currently, I have three children’s books published:
“Clarinda Cloud” “Clarinda Cloud Activity Book” “Johnny’s Adventure Makes Reading Fun”
How many do you have in the works?
LOL! I have quite a few in the works. The problem is that I am a very slow illustrator. I am getting better at it though. Positive thinking helps… “I think I can. I think I can.”
Are the characters in your book important?
I think characters in books are very important. I enjoy being able to relate to characters in the books I read and make the characters in my books relatable to others. My “star” character is Clarinda Cloud. She has a very important message of identifying and sharing feelings.
Tell us about your book, characters.
I have two main characters. Johnny is a little boy, probably in second or third grade. He has trouble reading and doesn’t like to read, because other children pick on him. I know that so many children can relate to Johnny. Clarinda Cloud is a little girl cloud who is wise beyond her years. She has the important message of identifying and sharing feelings. So many social issues can be eliminated, if only people would identify and share their feelings (in a healthy way.) One such social issue is bullying. Clarinda Cloud is also promoted as an anti-bullying, bullying awareness, bullying prevention spokescloud.
Do you research for your books?
I have not done any research for the books that I have published so far. They were all on subjects in which I am proficient. (Of course, I have done research on how to market and promote my books, etc.)
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
Well, “Clarinda Cloud Activity Book” was kind of difficult. I had quite a bit to learn to set up some of the activities.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
My life seems kind of hectic right now. I seem to have quite a few events in my life at the moment. Since my caregiving job no longer exists, I am trying to look for a job and promote my writing, my sites, and my education work (DUO Education) as much as I can. I am also setting up a media set and hope to start setting up school visits, author visits, and library visits, etc. I am also interested in interviews. (Thank you again, Rhonda.) Also, I think I am close to getting my books in a store. So…that will be great news. (Please look for more upcoming information on my websites and my social media sites. You can connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and About.me.)
Are you reading anything right now?
Actually, I just finished reading “Living Successfully with Screwed-Up People” by Elizabeth B. Brown. I would highly recommend it to anyone who feels they are being slighted, are in a one-way relationship, or who deal with difficult people.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
Well, I am kind of partial to “THE GOOD BOOK” myself. And, of course, I think that MY books are good books for others to read. However, other than that, one of my all time favorite books is “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein.

How long have you been a writer?
I have been writing all my life. I started at about age 14 writing poetry for school contests. I have written some music lyrics that were never published beyond my family. I have been writing Theological Studies for seminars for the past 15 years. This is my very first published work however.
Tell us about yourself?
My name is Eric Williams. I live and work in a small community in Southern Illinois. I am a Professor of Philosophy, Ethics and Religion at Kaskaskia Community College in Centralia, IL. I have 8 wonderful kids and 3 beautiful grandbabies. I have two Theology Degrees and a Doctorate Degree in Ministry.
What is most important in your life?
My wife and my kids are all that is important to me in life. I would like my writing to be successful and earn a living so that I can devote more free time to them. My health has failed some over the last couple of years and my priorities are in line with Time and my Family.
How many books do you have out?
I only have one in published work. I have written maybe a dozen over the years. Most of my writings have been in the form of apologetics or instruction for work-related issues. I do have other books in the works.
How many do you have in the works?
I have three stories working right this moment. The sequel to Edric the Hatchling Gryphon, a third book in the series, and a Young Adult Novel that will be written in a Christopian sense.
Are the characters in your book important?
My characters are based on family. Well the heroes anyway. My villains are just made up from imagination. My siblings play a big role in the first book. My children will be showcased in the second. In the third, well maybe Rhonda Patton will find a spot…
Tell us about your book, characters.
This is the story of Aerek, a woodsman and former soldier, who comes across a beautiful yet strange looking stone while hiking deep in his mountain woods. He shares his discovery with his friend Beecie, and together they find the surprise of their lives. This is not a stone at all! It is the egg of a mysterious creature called a Gryphon. This is the story of their adventures with a hatchling Gryphon named Edric. You are invited to share their adventures and meet trolls, wolves and Arimaspian Cyclops.
My siblings are the soldiers that join in the adventure. For the purposes of this book, my kids are all wrapped together in the spry little Gryphon named Edric. Beecie is my wife Carol, and I of course am the storyteller, Aerek.
Do you research for your books?
I try to do some historical research for the beings that are described such as trolls and Gryphons. The place is just a place in my mind and the Characters are a mix of races and places. I intentionally left them as a diversified bunch that could include any color or creed.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
I do not find anything hard about writing. The toughest thing I guess is the time it takes to sit down and get it on paper. I write everything on paper first, and then transpose it to the computer. I almost always make changes as I go.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
I have some Book Signings coming up over the next few months. I am trying to balance that with my work at the College. I designed a Degree Program for Kaskaskia College and they have asked me to teach the first class this Fall Semester. So between time with my family, teaching and writing there is not much time left for other ventures at the moment.
Are you reading anything right now?
I am constantly reading. Mostly reference books. My wife has asked me to read some books for her through Amazon that she is using in her classroom at Webster University. Right now I am reading “Summerland” by Michael Chabon.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
“Salem’s Lot” by Stephen King. It scared the bejeebers out of me 30 years ago and I still can’t get a couple of those scenes out of my head.

How long have you been a writer?
In my teens I used to go to coffee shops and sit there for hours on end writing on napkins. Saved money on paper. Haha. That was way before I knew anything about computers. I couldn’t even type.
I think I have always written stories but never considered myself a writer until I started working my life story at 29. I was getting married and I thought it would be cool to write about the wedding details. Sadly I put the story down after the wedding and didn’t pick it back up again until about fifteen years later when we were going through an ugly divorce.
Tell us about yourself?
I am used to being a wife and very committed to family. Throughout the years I have survived many loses and I think it has made me appreciate what I have more as the years have passed.
I was a personal trainer for many years and very much into fitness. Writing is a wonderful outlet for me. The business can be very stressful but I love meeting new people. It’s so great when we can help each other. So rewarding.
What is most important in your life?
Love and health is everything. Money helps but without those two things it will not bring happiness.
How many books do you have out?
I am working on a trilogy, Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles. Book three is in editing at the moment. This last week I released my first children’s book, Ty the Bull, a short story with KD Emerson and Rex Baughman. It’s about bullies and divorce. I am very proud of this story and my hope is it helps and inspires people of all ages. I also have another book that I wrote in an hour. It might be my most passionate story thus far. I am going to call it Ty the Dog and it’s about saving dogs from shelters and rescues rather than breeders and bookstores. My dogs have been my life.
Are the characters in your book important?
I would say they all have strong personalities, good or bad. I don’t know how you can get emotionally involved in a book when you are not into the characters. Of course a great plot goes far.
Tell us about your book, characters.
I will tell you about the character I know the most. That would be Brooklyn. She is in my Brooklyn and Bo trilogy. She is actually I. Even though I call these books fiction, she is I. I have just changed dates and names to protect myself from evildoers.
Do you research for your books?
Life experience seems to be my research. I wish I were more curious to want to learn about different places but actually I am more consumed with the human existence. Nothing is more interesting in people; it’s the quirks that catch my attention.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
Without a doubt it would be the third book in my trilogy called Fractured Vows. It is the first book in the Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles that is not based on my own life. Plus it’s from the male’s perspective. It was a good challenge and that is why I want it to be even better than the others.
Are you reading anything right now?
Even though I am not a big history buff I am really loving Mary Ann Bernal’s Briton and Dane: Concordia. It’s like a guilty pleasure.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
I have so many friends that write great books like John Emil Augustine’s From the abyss, Arlene O’ Neil’s Broken Spokes, Mark Barry’s Carla, Nadia Kilrick’s, Ziggy Returns, Jennifer Loiske’s Black Diamond, Joey Paul’s Dying Thoughts series, Jane Carroll’s Bertha Size your Life and Mary Ann Bernal’s Timeline. And my favorite of the moment is anything Katie St Claire. DW Davis's River Dream Series
The list is much too long but these are just a few.
I am a huge Pat Conroy and JD Salenger fan. Adore many of the classics like the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Somerset Maugham ’s Of Human Bondage.

How long have you been a writer?
I started writing in fourth grade (approx. 1961) as a hobby. It remained a hobby until I retired from my life-time career in 2001.
After retirement, I began writing poems by order for personalized poems as gifts for anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, retirements, holidays, etc. I did that as a full-time business 2004-2009, when I was diagnosed with my most recent cancer.
In 2011, I published my first book - an autobiographical book, “Anna’s Journey: How many lives does one person get?” Since then, I have published nearly a dozen books for both children and adults.
Tell us about yourself?
Anna Renault is a daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. For more than 31 years, Anna worked for the Maryland State Dept. of Education, Division of Rehabilitation Services. After retiring in 2001, Anna became a substitute teacher for Baltimore County (2002-present). She also worked for the Baltimore County Public Library (2002-2012).
In 2008, Renault began writing the weekly editorial for The Avenue News newspaper (www.avenuenews.com) and is still writing that column each week. In 2012, an On Health weekly column was added. Anna has also done freelance reporting for the newspaper.
She is also an avid volunteer for the cancer community and the environmental groups. She also volunteers for her church and various non-profits.
She is a member of a collaborative work center, the Maryland Colabs. There she has organized the East Baltimore County Environmental Coalition and the Author Gathering.
What is most important in your life?
What’s most important in my life? My three grandchildren, especially my granddaughter who is the co-owner of our home.
Along with my earthly family, my love for the Lord tops my list of most important things in my life. The Lord has carried me through many crises and has also provided me with a wonderful Guardian Angel!

Are the characters in your book important?
Of course the characters are important, but so is the message they carry to the readers.
Tell us about your book, characters.
Needless to say, I am the main character in the autobiographical books.
Mitzy, the butterfly is really me also.
However, fictional characters Fred and Tessa where chosen to represent: Fred represents my dad (Frederick); and
Tessa represents my granddaughter Theresa who used to help me create stories about the metal butterfly on my kitchen wall.
John Morris is the central character in the Anna’s Journey: Three Awesome Weeks. John visited Baltimore MD from Ayr, Scotland – 4,000 miles away to help promote the book we did together as well as his art.
Do you research for your books?
Sometimes research is necessary. Some of the details in the Mitzy books have been the result of research… about butterflies, flowers, and even details about the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
The first book was the hardest to write, primarily because it was so personal. It was hard to decide what to put in and what to leave out.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
Upcoming events: Medically, I am planning to have knee replacement surgery. Personally, I’m looking forward to making new connections within the Christian Authors on Tour group, especially during my book expo trip to Savannah Georgia in October.
Writing wise! I’m looking forward to the publication of “Anna’s Journey: Am I Accident Prone?” and “Anna’s Journey: Three Awesome Weeks.” And, I’m looking forward to the continued publication of the anthologies working with a group of international writers – helping first time authors get their names in print and raising visibility of published authors who are participating.
Are you reading anything right now?
I’ve been picking up and putting down – over and over again, a book by Meleny Thomas, “101 Truths for You.” I read a truth or two… and then thinking about how the info relates to my life. It is an awesome book.

How long have you been a writer? My first book, Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots, came out in 1990. I had written professionally for about 1.5 years before that. I co-authored that book, which turned into the series, The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids, with Marcia Thornton Jones. Vampires Don’t Wear Polka Dots celebrates its 25th year in print in 2015.
Tell us about yourself? I am the author and co-author of 162 children’s books, currently live in Bucks County, Pa. I have a wonderful scientist husband, Eric Dadey, and three fabulous children: Nathan, Becky, and Alex. Nathan and I wrote two books together: Slime Wars and Slime Time.
What is most important in your life? My faith and my family. In fact, I have a book with my agent right now that has that exact theme. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she’ll love it (along with an editor and lots of readers!) It’s so hard when you pour your heart into a story and for some reason it doesn’t work.
How many books do you have out? 154 with more on the way.
How many do you have in the works? Lots! I put information about new things on www.Facebook.com/debbiedadey and www.Twitter.com/debbiedadey.
Are the characters in your book important? Yes, they are the story! Usually before I start writing a story, I plan my characters. I have sample character sketches on my website’s writing page (www.debbiedadey.com) that help me plan out what my character will be like. I feel if I don’t know my characters, then my readers certainly won’t.
Tell us about your book, characters. My next book is A Royal Tea, which is the 9th book in the Mermaid Tales chapter book series with Simon and Schuster. It comes out August 26, 2014. It is the story of mermaid Shelly who is afraid her grandmother, Queen Edwina is coming to tea only to take her away from her friends to live in the royal castle. I always try to be sensitive to different ethnicities in my stories because I know kids want to see themselves in books, so my mermaids are multi-cultural.
Do you research for your books? Yes! I have done and learned some amazing things by doing research for my stories. I know so much about sea creatures (the creepy hairy angler is one of my favorites) and have gone to places like Egypt and Space Camp. I even sky-dived for a story (but I don’t recommend it!) I think research really adds depth to any story.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why? They’re all hard, but the one that took me the longest was Cherokee Sister. I researched, wrote, and rewrote for eight years for that story. It is a story about two girls, one white and one Indian, who were swept up in the Trail of Tears. Since I am part Cherokee this book meant a lot to me.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life? If you live anywhere near New Jersey, I would highly recommend the Princeton Library’s Children’s Book Festival on September 20th. I rubbed shoulders with Ann Martin last year! They have an amazing line-up of authors doing presentations and autographing books. I’m honored to be included.
Are you reading anything right now? Always! I just finished re-reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower and now I’m rereading The Daughters Break the Rules. It’s summer, so I’ve also been reading lots of romances! That’s my embarrassing secret!
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ? I really have enjoyed the Cinder books and am really looking forward to the next one. They are spin-offs of traditional fairy tales and are set in the future. I liked them so much, I put a fairy tale twist into a recent story I wrote. And of course, I definitely recommend the Mermaid Tales series for anyone who wants to have fun!

How long have you been a writer?
Hmmm, does lying on the ground staring up into a tree and inventing stories for my best friend in grade school count? I think I’ve been making up stories forever! I’ve been publishing them for a few years.
Tell us about yourself?
I’ve taught all levels of school. I love teaching and spending time with kids of all ages. My hubby and I’ve been married for over thirty years. We have two great kids! Our three precious grandchildren are from the Democratic Republic of Congo. (They inspired my story Finding Baby Bear’s Family.)
What is most important in your life?
God. Family. Love. Peace. Joy. Following my bliss. I am passionate about everyone finding and following their bliss. (Nothing is as beautiful!)
How many books do you have out?
Presently, I have eleven books for children published. (Most recently, My Grandma is NOT too Busy!)
I have twelve books out as a young adult writer. (Under a different name – Brenda Maxfield.)
How many do you have in the works?
Two books are being illustrated right now. I always have ideas simmering. I’m about ready to begin another! :-D
Are the characters in your book important?
Absolutely! They draw the reader into the story.
Tell us about your book, characters.
I have three series right now for young children. (The Silly Pants Series, The Abigail and Elmer Series, and The Penny and Ronald Series.) I’ve attempted to make the characters diverse. In short books, there isn’t as much time for character development, but it’s interesting how much personality you can infuse with so few words. I’ve actually grown quite fond of my characters!
Do you research for your books?
Yep. If necessary! I do more research for my young adult books, but every now and then I have to research something for the picture books.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
Hmmmm. The book Lizbet’s Lie, which is for teenagers, was a tough one. I got very upset at Lizbet’s situation and the way she was treated. The more I wrote, the more upset I became! My critique partner told me he was furious as he read it; he wanted to swoop in and save Lizbet!
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
I’m loving these summer months. In August, I begin teaching again at our community college. I’m looking forward to working with the students!
Are you reading anything right now?
Always and forever! I usually have about five books going at once. I do read a lot of picture books; of course, they don’t take long! I love to read many different genres.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
Wow. This is tough. I think one of the most beautiful series written for children is the Anne of Green Gables series. The writing flows in such a lovely way, and the vocabulary is melodic. Beautiful!

How long have you been a writer?
I have been a writer for as long as I’ve been able to write. I remember
being in the first grade and writing stories about animals. That was over twenty years ago.
Tell us about yourself?
I’m a wife, mother, writer and animal lover. I graduated from the Indiana University School of Journalism in 2008 and I currently live on a small farm with my family, where we take care of a few animals.
What is most important in your life?
My family and my animals are most important to me.
How many books do you have out?
I currently have two books available. Odie the Stray Kitten and Odie’s Best Friend are both a part of the Odie the Stray Kitten Series for children.Odie the Stray Kitten recieved the Children’s Literary Classics’ Seal of Approval, won a 2014 Next Generation Indie Book Award, and received an Honorable Mention in the 2014 Purple Dragonfly Children’s Book Awards.
How many do you have in the works?
I am currently developing at least three new ideas for children’s books. The final book in the Odie the Stray Kitten Series will be the first available, hopefully sometime in 2015.
Are the characters in your book important? Characters are important because their personalities, actions and emotions are what most readers relate to, especially children.
Tell us about your book, characters.
Odie the Stray Kitten and Odie’s Best Friend are the stories of how our two barn cats came to live on our farm. The animal characters in each of the books are based on our real farm animals, including the cats and horses. Odie is a young kitten, inquisitive about the world. His best friend Bandit is an older and wiser cat, knowlegable and intuitive. The horses, Dorothy and
Jace, are minor characters.
Do you research for your books?
I don’t typically research for my books. Both of my published books are based on the animals in my life and how I think they view the world and the humans who share it with them.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
My second book, Odie’s Best Friend, depicts the life of Bandit, a stray that stayed. I created his backstory through an animal shelter and a life as a stray. I don’t know anything about his life prior to living here, so I had to create his story based on how I imaged that he ended up here. Creating his sad story was difficult and I often cried while writing it.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
Future events for me include writing and publishing more children’s books and spending time with my family. I have a few scheduled book readings locally as well.
Are you reading anything right now?
I am currently reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, the second book in the Hunger Games Trilogy. I was not on the bandwagon when The Hunger Games first became a film. But now I understand why it was so popular, the books are wonderful. I am forcing myself to finish each of the books before I watch each of the movies.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
I recently read Love Saves the Day by Gwen Cooper, author of Homer’s Odyssey. Love Saves the Day was a great read. It is narrated by a rescue cat whose human passes away and she is taken in by the human’s daughter. I experienced a series of varying emotions while reading this book, from anger to laugher to tears. I would recommend it as a must-read for
anyone, not just animal people.

How long have you been a writer?
Not long, at least in fiction. I’ve written a lot for Dog Fancy, some peer reviewed journals, newsletters. The first thing I had published was a short zombie story published by Pill Hill press.
Tell us about yourself?
I have a master’s degree in biology. I studied the population genetics of an endangered plant species and taught classes in environmental sciences, horticulture, and human anatomy. I’ve been a landscaper and a professor. Now I mainly am a dog trainer and breeder, and on occasion I write about a dog who is a thinly veiled version of a crazy rescue springer and his boy I had years ago.
What is most important in your life?
Peace.
How many books do you have out?
Currently George Knows. Tillie’s Tale will be out this winter.
How many do you have in the works?
Phoebe’s Pause is currently in my head.
Are the characters in your book important?
Very important. At least to themselves. I hope they can educate while not letting anyone know it.
Tell us about your book, characters.
George is an egotistical magical basset hound familiar. Between him, his Girlpup, a 12-year-old witch in training, Karly, and their Auntie Heather, they solve mysteries. Along the way they show the importance of taking care of the Earth. In Tillie’s Tale, they’ll educate a bit about history while helping out a ghost.
Do you research for your books?
Oh yes. Since most of the characters are based on people and dogs I know, that part is simple. But finding scary beasties that are endemic to the Midwest means research. I love to do it. Maybe too much, since I can procrastinate with the best of them.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
The book the series Magical Drool Mysteries is based on real events of a real dog and his boy. Very, very funny stories about the dog, including stealing football from Joe Montana. Climbing up a ladder to steal a roofer’s lunch. Finding human bones. Bringing me Joey, who I later fostered. I’ll never write the real story, both child and dog did not have happily ever afters.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
I’ll continue to write, and help out writer friends, beta reading their Urban Fantasy novels. I suffer from a disability that has cut back my activities, but I’ll continue to play with my dogs, garden, and be with my husband as long as I can.
Are you reading anything right now?
Currently I’m reading to The Book Of Life, by Deborah Harkness, and listening to In My Own Heart’s Blood, by Diana Gabaldon. Both very large books with a strong dose of history.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
There are too many books for me to do that. I think it’s the books I’m currently reading. Life is too short to read books I don’t like. Then there is George Knows. Not too many egotistical magic basset hounds out there.

How long have you been a writer?
I've been writing for a number of years. I started by crafting poetry.
Tell us about yourself?
I'm a wife and mother to three grown children. Grandmother to eight, and have a menagerie of animals. I enjoy art, and do my own illistrations.
What is most important in your life?
My family means everything to me.
How many books do you have out?
Children's books, I have four in the Tori-Jean No! Series, with one ready for editing. Liam and Storm's Alien Adventure, and a book on fibromyalgia called Baby Steps: Facing up to Fibromyalgia. I also have numerous horror books out, the most recent being Tombie, a short story, and Courting the Reaper, a bumper book of horror.
How many do you have in the works?
I have just completed a short horror and have a novel in the editing process called Emelia. I am at the moment working on a children's fantasy adventure for ages 8 and up. The Golden Pen.
Are the characters in your book important?
Yes, I tend to put myself in their 'shoes' in each story.
Tell us about your book, characters.
In The Golden Pen, we have two best friends Tyrell and Tyler. Each different in personality and bravery. Tyrell is cool and laid back, Tyler is more timid. They grow in courage and caring as the book progresses. Faced with dilemma's and strange creatures they must overcome their fears to 'fix the world.'
Do you research for your books?
Yes I research. I like to add some facts into the stories.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
Baby Steps was hard to write, there's a piece of me in there. The struggles with fibromyalgia and the stigma attached. Just because you look well on the outside, doesn't mean your okay.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
I'm enjoying writing The Golden Pen, dreaming up creatures and how they act. I am also looking forward to the edited Emelia, this book took me a long time to complete. There will be one more to complete the storyline.
Are you reading anything right now?
At the moment I'm squeezing in a few chapters of two books when I can. Exsanguinate by Killion Slade and The Eden Project by DP Fitzsimons.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
There are so many good reads out there. My young grandchildren love the Ted and Raymond books, also anything to do with fairies and animals. The older ones like Goosebumps. I really love The Dragonblade Series by Nancy Lee Parish. The Dragonblade series draws you in as if you're a character in the book. It's YA to 100. I'm awaiting the next installment.
Thank you Rhonda Patton.

How long have you been a writer? I began writing stories as a child, but I started writing for publication in college.
Tell us about yourself? I started out in journalism and I still have that curious side to me where I want to know as much as I can about a subject. I also have that academic side where I really loved my English lit classes in college and took more than the requirements needed to graduate. And of course the creative side where I love walking around museums looking at art, reading, and listening to music. I’m from Michigan and have lived in South Dakota, Portugal, and now southern Ohio. I also love shopping and going to bookstores.
What is most important in your life? Right now my family has been dealing with the fallout of my dad’s surgery complications this summer. It has really changed all of our priorities about what’s really important and how we look at things. I’ve actually learned a lot from this experience by taking cues from my mom and dad and how they are handling all of this. Right now I’m much more about enjoying the little moments in life after seeing how quickly life can change.
How many books do you have out? I have one YA book out, a sequel that is coming and I’ve been in eight anthologies and/or cookbooks.
How many do you have in the works? I have the sequel to True Colors coming out next year called, Best Friends…Forever? (The Landry’s True Colors series), as well as two other YA books I’m working on and an adult novel I am rewriting.
Are the characters in your book important? Landry Albright, my main character is an introverted, sweet girl who just wants to be accepted and have that close bestie that she can confide in. She’s also loyal to a fault. I think she’s important in that she shows her insecurities (like her nerves over being in these modeling competitions and feeling insecure about her looks) and flaws and makes readers feel less alone in their own issues.
Tell us about your book, characters. Besides Landry, there’s Ashanti Russell who is a loyal friend who has a poise and maturity that I wished I had possessed at that age (eighth grade). She sees the best in Landry and tries to help her see it as well. Peyton Urich is another true friend who is very real and doesn’t pretend to be someone she’s not. Then there’s Ericka Maines who is that “frenemy” type who makes those passive aggressive comments that leave you feeling uneasy and insecure after you walk away from the conversation. Thalia is another of Landry’s friends who is a little more outspoken. She’s not one of the popular kids and she sees people for who they are—even the popular kids who Landry thinks have it made. Devon is an interesting character that a lot of readers bring up to me. I have learned a lot of people have had an Ericka or a Devon (or both) in their lives! Devon can be a good friend, but she has an insecure side that makes her become a bit controlling like when she freaks out over Landry forgetting to put on the best friend bracelet they share.
Do you research for your books? I take from my own experiences, but I do watch films or shows geared towards the age group I’m writing for and I definitely read a lot of that genre. I’m a big fan of middle grade and YA fiction.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why? One of the YA books I’m working on deals with dementia which is something that I saw my grandfather deal with when I was a teen and now I am going through now with another family member and that’s been very difficult to write about.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life? I am editing my sequel to True Colors next. It’s part of the Landry’s True Colors series and the title is, Best Friends…Forever?
Are you reading anything right now? I have The Fault in Our Stars on my table right now.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
I thought My Mother was Never a Kid by Francine Pascal was the best YA book when I was growing up and I recently re-read it and it is still just as good. Funny thing is that it was an older book (publication date-wise) when I was a kid and that doesn’t seem to matter as the subject matter (moms and daughters not seeing eye-to-eye) stays the same.

I had been writing for several years and stopped for a while, but I started back in 2007 writing articles for various sites, poetry and short stories.
Tell us about yourself? I’m a wife, and a mother who loves the Lord. I was born in Walterboro, SC to King S. Jr. and Jessie Ellison. I enjoy volunteering in my community and spending quality time with my family and friends.
What is most important in your life?
There are many things that are important in my life. My husband, my parents, my beautiful children and grandchildren, my family and love ones, but the most precious is my acceptance of my Savior Jesus Christ.

How many do you have in the works?
I’m working on combining two pieces of my work, “Old Testament Bible Trivia Multiple Choice Genesis-Revelation”, and “New Testament Bible Trivia Fill In The Blanks From Matthew-Revelation.” My second piece of work is a novella that I’m currently working on entitled, “Nettie.” This novella is about a mother who escaped from slavery and was terrified to learn that her nine year old daughter was kidnapped and sold into slavery and possibly living in the very house she had escaped from.
Are the characters in your book important?
Yes, they are very important since they make the story. I want them to take on a life and to have such a presence that the reader feels as if they are there witnessing the story and the outcome.
Tell us about your book, characters
Well, I have written various books with several characters. I guess if I had to choose one of my favorites it would be the character of the book entitled, “I Can Be Anything I Want To Be.” I love this eBook because it challenges the imagination of a child. It allows them to see pictures that will awake their imagination and encourage them to reach for the stars. From this book my quote was created, “When you encourage a child you elevate a child.” This eBook is available in Afrikaans, English, French, Japanese, and French and will impact many children lives.
Do you research for your books?
Some of them yes, but not all it just depends on what subject I’m taking on. If it is biblical yes I do.
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
I’m looking forward to finishing and releasing my novella “Nettie.” I’m a candidate for a position on my City Board and I’m elated about that.

How long have you been a writer?
I began writing 2 years ago officially. before that just poems and short stories.
Now I have 21 books out.
Tell us about yourself?
I am a mother of 7 and grandmother of 18, that's why besides novels I write kids books.
What is most important in your life?
Family, but they have to get out of the way when I am writing!
How many books do you have out?
Twenty one, 12 novels, 5 collections (2 of tall tales, 1 of inspirational short stories and 4 children's books, preschool and early reader)
How many do you have in the works? Right now just working on book 22 a collection of paranormal visitations.
Are the characters in your book important? Most important thing and my readers tell me that is what they like about the books.
Tell us about your book, characters.
Stretched stories is a collection of humorus tall tales that tell fun explanations for common things. Like why a cow says moo or why a dog wags its tail. The characters vary because it is a collection of short stories. This book is part 1.Stretched Stories part 2 is also available.
Do you research for your books?
Yes, in parts of them, mostly it comes from my head, but in The New Moon Killer I wanted to be accurate when characters were having past life regressions.
Is there one book that was hard for you to write, if so why?
My book Tunnels was hard because my characters kept changing the story and it ended up being over 600 pages. But usually the writing is easy for me. I do all my books long hand and when my pen hits the paper I am off!
Can you tell us more about the coming up events in your life?
I am going back to work part time and just hope it doesn't slow down my writing, although in the last 2 years I have only been a full time writer about 6 months, so I think I am okay.
Are you reading anything right now?
I am reading everything. I love to read as much as I love to write. In a year I have over 630 reviews done on Amazon and Goodreads is 4 times that.
What is a good book for others to read that you would convince others it is a MUST-READ?
I think there are so many great books out there, but it is not just the book that is important. The person reading the book is what makes the story. No two people walk away with the same images in their head when they finish a book. So whatever you read, just bring your great imaginations with you.

Welcome!
Tell us a little bit about yourself. I’m a retired, but NOT tired, elementary teacher. I taught for 26 years and loved teaching, especially third and fourth grades – those were my favorite! I’ve been married to my husband, Tony, for 41 years. We have three grown kids, 5 wonderful grandchildren, and a little dog named Bella. Bella’s my shadow. We live in northwestern Pennsylvania.
What are your hobbies? In the spring and summer, I love to play in my gardens. I plant flowers, pull the rascally weeds, and move plants around. Just being outside and playing in the dirt is fun for me. I’m also a musician of sorts. I sing at church, play the recorder with the Shenango Valley Chorale Madrigal consort group during the Christmas season, and I’m a member of our local Senior Follies group. We put on a community fundraiser show in August and I sing with the Senior Follies Chorus and tap dance with the Toast of the Town Tappers. I also like to play tennis, whack around a golf ball while my husband golfs, I like yoga, and I really like writing stories for kids!!
Tell us about your current book. What was your inspiration? I have several projects I’m working on right now. The main one is the “Meeda and Me” series. These books were inspired by my granddaughter, Sofie, and her imaginary friend, Meeda. Meeda lives in Sofie’s mirror, but sometimes she comes out! To date, there are three books in the “Meeda and Me” series. Book #1, “Meeda and Me,” introduces Sofia Margaret [Sofie] and her “friend,” Meeda. Book #2, introduces “The Woozler.” He’s a nasty, grumpy human-like creature who lives in the girls’ backyard in a hole under their apple tree. The girls would like to be his friend, but the Woozler doesn’t like people. He softens up a little in this story. Book #3 is titled, “Merry Christmas, Woozler.” Sofie and Meeda are getting ready for Christmas. They are so excited. Then they start to worry about the Woozler who is outside in the freezing cold. The girls hatch a plan to warm him up a little and give him a special Christmas surprise. I’m working on Book #4 now. The working title is “Trouble with Woozler.” Sofie and Meeda have found out that the Woozler loves chocolate, but he ends up getting the girls in big trouble. That’s all I can say about this story for now.
I DO have two other fun projects that are currently with illustrator, Nicole Resele. These are concept books that will help teach kids their colors and opposites. I’m excited about these books and the illustrations are so much fun! Watch for “Grammy’s Rockin’ Color Rap-a-licious Rap” this spring and “Grammy’s Rockin’ Opposites” later this year.
How did you become a writer? When did you start? As I mentioned above, I was an elementary school teacher. Every year, my students would write and illustrate their own stories during the school year. It was a great learning project.
When my own kids were little, and I was a stay-at-home-mom, we read lots of books and wrote lots of stories. As a result, my kids became early readers. When our kids started to write their own stories, they begin taking ownership for their learning. It was a lot of fun for them, and their learning pace really picked up.
I have found that young kids get excited about learning when see their own words. They start to make the connection that reading is talk written down.
Now that I’m a grandma, I’ve written a bunch of stories with my grandchildren. They love it!! The stories we have written together tend to be their favorites to read when they come to Papa and Grammy’s house.
Last Christmas, our then 6-year-old grandson, Orion, presented my husband and me with a story that he had written and illustrated all by himself. He was so proud! Needless to say, he doesn’t need my help with writing stories anymore!
So, as you can see, I’ve been writing for quite a while. It’s just recently that I’ve shared some stories with the public.
How long did it take you to finish your first book? The first book I released to the public was “The Little Lambs and the Very Special Mission.” This story was “given” to me after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Twenty first graders and their six educators were killed that horrendous day. During my prayers for the victims and their families, I was given the “Little Lambs” story. I didn’t want a story. I didn’t ask for a story. It was literally downloaded into my mind and heart. I had no choice and I was compelled to write what I was given. It’s a sweet, warm, loving little story that I dedicated to the victims. When I received it, my heart was given some peace and comfort. After publishing the story, many people who purchased it sent me notes or cards that said the story gave them some comfort too. I donate ALL the profits from the “Little Lambs and the Very Special Mission” to the “Angels in Charge” scholarship. This scholarship goes to kids from Newtown High School [CT] who are planning a career in education. To date, three Newtown High School students have received a total of $5000 in scholarship awards. As a teacher, this scholarship is a little way for me to honor the fallen teachers.
So how long did it take me to finish my first book? It took a few hours for the text to come together, and a few months for the illustrations to be completed. Taylor Galaska, an 8th grader at the time, helped complete the illustrations I could not complete. This book became an intergenerational project that has touched a lot of people and helped heal some hearts.
Where and when do you like to write? I’m not very good at sitting still, however, when I write, I write at my computer. I sit as long as I can, then I take breaks. I usually write during the daytime. Sometimes, I write before I go to bed. Sometimes I get up in the middle of the night. The Woozler had me up in the middle of the night! You just never know when characters are going to speak to you!
Favorite author(s)? I love all the Dr. Seuss and Berenstain Bear books. When I taught 3rd and 4th grades, the students and I LOVED reading Bruce Coville’s chapter books – all of them - from the “My Teacher is an Alien” series to “Jennifer Murdley’s Toad” to “Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher.” These chapter books kept us right on the edge of our seats! Bruce Coville has been a huge inspiration!
How many books have you written, so far? Do you plan to write more?
I have 8 children’s books currently available on Amazon – both in paperback and kindle formats. For 2015, I have 2 more “Meeda and Me” books planned, two concept books, and “Doonsey’s Return, the Great Rescue, Part 2.” I have these books in my head, but I don’t know if I can sit still long enough to do them all!! That’s a challenge for me!! We’ll see what happens in 2015, but I can tell you that I am excited to share my stories!!
Would you like to share a link where we can purchase your books?
Absolutely! Here is my link on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00G5X3WO2
What about a link to your website? Here is the link to my website: http://www.rhondapagliaauthor.com/

<3 Rhonda Paglia of “Grammy Pags Stories”
Welcome!
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I was born in a small Mississippi town called Lumberton. I am the only boy among three other siblings. I was named after my father and my grandfather. I started writing at a very young age. I first took to writing when I was 15, that’s when I began writing poetry. My English teacher at that time made us read a poem by Robert Frost called “The Road Not Taken” and my love for poetry was instant because her assignment was for us to write a poem interpreting his piece. I was pretty much a loaner in high school and spent my time throwing myself into my writing and drawings. I was always participating in school activities and contest that involved writing or drawing. I won many awards in high school for my drawings and writings. I currently now reside in Houston, Texas where I participate in many art shows throughout the state. It was in 2104 that I decided to publish my first children’s book, bringing both of my loves together (writing and drawing). Prior to 2014 I have written many children stories, I think my fear of rejection kept me held back prior to my recent publication. Other titles I have written, but unpublished are: Princess Fire Fly and Rose and Her Amazing Nose (due out later this year).
What are your hobbies?
Well if and when I am not writing or drawing, I love to volunteer. I spend a lot of time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and I just recently started volunteering for Texas Children’s Hospital to which coincidentally 25% of my book sales are given.
Tell us about your current book. What was your inspiration?
Well my current book is called “Bali and Blu: Friends of a Different Color”. A lot of people ask me how did I come up with that title and it actually did not come about until the story was finished. I knew I wanted to write about a friendship between an elephant (Bali) and a grasshopper (Blu). So as I began to develop the characters through words and drawings that I decided to add “Friends of a Different Color” because they are indeed friends who are quite different not only in color but every aspect. It’s a very touching story that tells children it is ok to be yourself and to also be friends with those different than yourself. Everyone doesn’t have to be that same in order to be friends. This particular story was also taken from my own personal experiences that I had as a child growing up and remembering all the obstacles I had to overcome as a child. I wanted to write a story that would help children who are dealing with those same obstacles and let them know it is ok.
How did I become a writer? When did I start?
I actually did not start writing children’s stories til 2007, I had woke up early one morning unable to fall back asleep and I had this idea in my head, totally raw and undeveloped. I didn’t even know if I could write it, all I knew was I wouldn’t know if I didn’t try. As I mentioned previously, I started writing poetry when I was 15 and I knew that I wanted to combine by skills of rhyming with funny anecdotes to entertain children by sneaking lessons into my stories.
How long did it take you to finish your first book?
Well my current book “Bali and Blu: Friends of a Different Color” maybe took me a month to write. The story sat for many years on a disc on my shelf. When I decided to revisit the story in 2014 for publication, I started my illustrations in June 2014 and the book was ready for publication by end of November that same year. I had absolutely no idea how to approach the illustrations; I did research on character styles, coloring styles, etc. It was a huge educational experience for me.
Where do you like to write?
I usually write late night, early morning with my cup of coffee.
Favorite Author(s)?
Daniel Handler, David Kirk, of course Dr Seuss, C.S. Lewis, Ernest Hemingway, Edgar Allan Poe just to name a few
How many books have your written so far? Do you plan to publish more?
I have many unpublished stories and I write ideas down constantly. I do most definitely plan to publish again, as I mentioned above, my next book will be titled “Rose and her amazing nose” due out 2015. I’m also working on a YA chapter book due out early 2016, title unknown.
